About College

The College of Nursing at Misr University for Science and Technology seeks to provide students with the knowledge, skills, and ethical values. This goal is achieved by attracting elite faculty members while utilizing advanced educational programs to prepare the students for their professional careers, whether in medical and Surgical Nursing, Critical Care and Emergency Nursing, Obstetrics and Gynecology, and Pediatric Nursing and Psychiatric Nursing and Mental Health, The ultimate goal is to Satisfy the local and regional labor market needs in the health sectors besides providing scientific research that serves society and keeping pace with the present and the future requirements in compliance with quality standards.

Medical and Surgical Nursing Department

About the department:

The Department of Medical and surgical nursing care is one of the important scientific departments that are keen to provide excellent education by preparing scientifically and practically qualified cadres that meet the changing health needs, keeping pace with technical and scientific development, which enables students to provide high-quality nursing care

Vision

The department should be a model of scientific excellence among scientific residences in institutions of higher education for nursing at the national and regional level and be a pioneer for education that develops mental and professional capabilities supported by evidence-based practices and meets the needs of the labor market and links vocational education with the community

Mission:

It is preparing students for the nursing profession while providing them with the basic principles of nursing and the techniques that underpin it so that they can make continuous progress to improve the quality of patient

Objectives

The Department of Medical-Surgical Nursing Aims To Achieve The Following Goals:

  • Updating scientific curricula and activating research results in practical practices.
  • Developing teaching methods, teaching aids, and evaluation systems in line with the available resource
  • Developing educational and research skills for faculty members and the supporting staff.

Psychiatric Nursing & Mental Health Department

Vision :

Psychiatric Nursing and Mental Health Department are looking forward to being a distinguished and pioneering department in the field of psychiatric nursing education and mental health, and to reach the international classification among educational institutions, scientific research, and community service.

Mission :

Psychiatric Nursing and Mental Health Department seek to achieve:

  1. Preparing distinguished nursing cadres capable of continuous self-learning in the areas of strengthening mental health and building distinguished relationships.

 

  1. Updating the skills of scientific research and modern technology in the development of integrated nursing care and its scientific development in accordance with ethical standards.
  2. Continuous development and contribution to solving community health problems and competition in line with scientific development in the field of mental health locally and regionally

Nursing Administration Department

Introduction

The Department of Nursing Administration is one of the departments of the College of Nursing at Misr University for Science and Technology and is interested in preparing a distinguished graduate in the areas of administrative and nursing skills. The department consists of accredited educational courses and scientific research specialized in the field of nursing administration. for the importance of educational services in the field of educational services, in order to raise the level of male and female graduates in proportion to the needs of students.

Vision

Dedicating the quality of nursing care by contributing to the preparation of qualified and empowered nursing graduates specialized in the nursing profession (administration) for a wide range of people within health care institutions or in the community at the local or regional level, and encouraging the educational and research capabilities of faculty members to satisfy the needs of the community

Mission

The Department of Nursing Administration aims to graduate nursing leaders who can integrate theoretical and practical administrative knowledge, contribute to scientific research and apply professional ethics to provide quality nursing care to enhance community development.

Pediatric Nursing Department

The Pediatric Nursing Department at College of Nursing, Misr University for Science and Technology is looking forward to occupying a leading position in Pediatric Nursing education and reaching the international ranking of pediatric nursing education institutions.

Mission:

The Pediatric Nursing Department at College of Nursing, Misr University for Science and Technology seeks to graduate distinguished pediatric nursing cadres capable of continuous self-learning and employ scientific research and technology in the development of integrated pediatric nursing care from birth to adolescence and their families in health and illness and contribute to solving community health problems and competition national and international.

Strategic Objectives:

  1. Supporting the vision, mission, and objectives of the college.
  2. Preparing qualified graduates who have the cognitive and practical skills to meet the needs of children, adolescents, their families, and society, at different ages and circumstances, to improve the quality of clinical, preventive, and rehabilitative treatment.
  3. Strengthening students’ positive attitudes towards the necessity of self-education, critical thinking, and continuing personal and professional growth.
  4. Cooperating with the health team in various health institutions by participating in scientific missions, leadership, and various community services for the contribution of pediatric nursing to discoveries and innovations to meet the growing health needs of children that the current stage needs more than ever.

The Critical Care and Emergency Department

The vision of the critical care and Emergency department

The critical care and emergency department – College of nursing – Misr University for Science and Technology- strive to enhance health care and prepare nursing personnel to work in the critical care and emergency units and can compete nationally and regionally.

The critical care and emergency department – College of nursing – Misr University for Science and Technology – aim to prepare competent and highly qualified nursing personnel with excellent skills to provide specialized nursing care in the critical care and emergency field.

Objectives of the Critical and Emergency Nursing Department:

In the light of the vision and mission of the Department of Critical care and Emergency Nursing – Faculty of Nursing – Misr University for Science and Technology, the strategic goals of the faculty have been set:

  • Preparing nursing staff with distinct capabilities in critical and emergency nursing.
  • Preparing nursing staff with distinct capabilities that suit the needs of the labor market at home and abroad.
  • Preparing free courses for first aid, emergency, and critical.
  • Participating in activities to raise health awareness in the community.
  • Developing the capabilities of the teaching staff in the department by holding a periodic scientific day.

Gerontological Nursing Department

Gerontological Nursing Department Vision:

The Department of Gerontological Nursing is distinguished in preparing a graduate capable of providing health care to the elderly by providing them with knowledge and practices to help the elderly intervene challenges in positive, effective, and innovative ways.

Gerontological Nursing Department Mission:

 Enriching the educational, research, and technological system in the field of elderly nursing and preparing distinguished graduates with high knowledge, skill, and professionalism to provide high-quality nursing care for the elderly in different settings and developing practical strategies to enhance the health, performance, and quality of life of the elderly.

Department of Geriatric Nursing Goals:

  1. Identify the physical, psychological, and social changes that occur with aging
  2. Understand the most common nursing diagnoses associated with the elderly and related nursing care
  3. Emphasis on the importance of effective communication in dealing with the elderly
  4. Provide students with the necessary knowledge to take care of the elderly in health and disease.
  5. Demonstrate various scientific skills in the comprehensive care of the elderly.
  6. Awareness of students about the places in the community that provide services for the elderly.

The Obstetrics and Gynecology Nursing Department

Introduction:

  • The obstetrics and gynecology nursing department was established in September 2021 with a pre-settled vision and mission derived from the faculty`s vision and mission. The department provides 2 main courses (Maternity and Neonatal Health Nursing and Clinical Practice Maternity and Neonatal Health nursing).

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology aspires to prepare nurses who are able to compete locally and regionally in the field of maternal nursing during different age stages.

 

Mission:

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology aims to prepare qualified nurses who are able to provide nursing services to women of all ages in the field of obstetrics and gynecology through comprehensive educational program accordance with the standards of the National Authority for Accreditation and Quality, which enhances the development of scientific and practical skills for students to prepare them to provide safe health services and meet the needs of the local community.

The department’s strategic goal.

The department’s strategic goal is to prepare student cadres capable of providing comprehensive nursing care for women of all ages and at all levels of health and disease based on the physical, psychological and environmental needs of women.

The objectives of the department are as follows:

  1. Studying the physical, psychological, and social aspects affecting a woman’s life by studying the anatomy and physiology of the internal and external reproductive system.
  2. Studying the health status of women during childbearing periods, which includes pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum, gynecological diseases.
  3. Improving the health of the mother and fetus during pregnancy and providing them with full nursing care during the different stages of pregnancy.
  4. Providing comprehensive nursing care for the mother and fetus during different stages of pregnancy as well as during the childbirth process.
  5. Assessing the basic and necessary needs of the mother during the postpartum period and giving her nursing care.
  6. Practice counseling skills during discussing certain issues as infertility and family planning methods.

Community Health Nursing Department

Community Health Nursing Department Vision: –

The Community Health Nursing Department looks forward to preparing a graduate capable of coping with the challenges and changes in the health of the community and using modern methods and technologies to ensure quality performance.

Community Health Nursing Department Mission:

Graduation of a nurse capable of providing integrated health care to various groups of the community according to health needs and problems, through the application of the principles of community health nursing at the three levels of prevention.

Community Health Nursing Department Goals 

  1. Acquire knowledge and skills needed for nursing interventions for the individual, the family, and the community in wellness and illness.
  2. Apply the concept of primary health care to prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation.
  3. Utilize technologies in developing and serving community health and the environment through scientific research and projects.
  4. Conduct partnerships with relevant NGOs and NGOs to serve community health.

Message from the Dean

Proceeding from the importance of the nursing profession in the field of health care development in Egypt, the nursing program was separated from the College of Applied Medical Sciences to become an independent college of nursing by the ministerial decision issued on August 13, 2020, to be finalized in November 2020 and to receive the first batch of students in March 2021.

The College of Nursing offers one program, the Nursing Program, the duration of study is 4 years, in English, which is the main language of study at the faculty, in addition to a 12-months internship year (the year of clinical training), which is compulsory.

The College of Nursing, Misr University for Science and Technology is interested in preparing qualified and skilled cadres in nursing sciences, medical sciences, and humanities to be able to provide and develop integrated nursing care of high quality with the employment of scientific research, technology, and contribute to solving various health problems of the community. The college also works on building bridges and communication channels Contact between it and the graduates through the Alumni Association of the Alumni Unit at the university to develop the human capabilities of the graduate in the labor market in order to be able to compete locally and regionally.

Students Affairs

Students Affairs
Student Affairs works collaboratively to support the educational mission of the College of Nursing. Through the integration of learning and student life, Student Affairs strives to enhance the intellectual development, and career success of students.

Student-oriented tasks:

  • Academic advising: advising students, dealing with urgent problems, and taking important decisions. Orienting students about credit hours system & how to register
    Special cases advising: follow-up with students diagnosed with chronic diseases affecting their academic performance (prescription approved).
  • Under probation students’ advising: developing system to follow-up with the students enabling minimal probation level
  • Newcomer students interviewing & orientation: interviewing new students (acceptance/rejection) & welcoming newcomers on the orientation day (orientation about the dean & vice deans, staff, rules,..etc.)
  • Students’ union: students are selected each year by the committee for the formation of the student union
  • Foreign students: welcoming & following up with the students, solving their issues, and developing a database for the foreign students
    Youth care: students’ activities (social, cultural,.. etc.)
  • Student exchange program: follow-up with foreign students in summer activities
    Cheating cases: a committee to discipline cheating students.
    Registration: student’s courses registration according to the college’s
  • Final exams remark: committee dedicated to revising final exam paper & coursework of the student

College-oriented tasks:

  • schedule preparation: lectures & labs schedule, final exams schedule, and proctoring.
  • Updating course syllabus and content before the beginning and end of each semester & annual report
  • Internal reviewer of the faculty program
  • Exams & control unit: tracking processes of revising final exam paper, marking, second marking & approval of results.
  • Scientific annual conference of the college: committee for revising submitted papers to participate in the conference (from different colleges & universities)
