About College

Misr University of Science and Technology is keen to keep pace with scientific and educational developments and with the State’s interest in preparing a teacher as the cornerstone of the educational process in accordance with renewed visions and concepts that contribute to meeting the challenges of the future.

In view of the serious shortage of special needs teachers and specialists, and the absence of a specialized college to prepare educational staff for the care and education of special needs in Egypt and the Arab world, the Board of Trustees and the Board of the University of Science and Technology of Egypt have considered the establishment of a special education college to be responsible for preparing teachers and qualified, skilled and skilled specialists with positive trends of work in this area, as the first unique private education college in Egypt and the Arab world.

Departments

Intellectual Disability

The Department of Intellectual Disabilities and its service for people with Intellectual Disabilities, it is one of the categories of special education that has been given great attention by those interested in different specializations, such as doctors, psychologists, educators, sociologists, teachers, parents, and others due to the increase in their numbers as a result of the special development in the processes of detection, diagnosis and evaluation on the one hand and the increasing awareness of teachers Children with mental disabilities.

Intellectual Disability Program Message

Preparing graduate who are teaching and rehabilitating pupils with Intellectual Disabilities, and who are academically qualified to design, implement and evaluate educational programs for this category going to achieve guidance for the family, society, and effective partnership with various relevant institutions and bodies, in a way that contributes to the development of scientific research.

 

Behavioral and emotional disorders

It is a single major that handles the concept of Emotional and Behavioral Disorders such as Autism, conduct Disorders, attention deficit and hyperactivity Disorders and all the Developmental Disorders.

It deals with ways of reducing them and their field of Clinical practice.as well as good view and practice of different early Intervention Program.

Behavioral and emotional disorders program message

Preparing a graduate capable of educating and rehabilitating people with emotional and behavioral disorders. This is through the preparation and application of effective programs that improve and evaluate various aspects of children growth with the aim of providing guidance for the family and society; achieving effective partnership with various relevant bodies and institutions; and contributing to the development of scientific research.

Behavioral and Emotional Disorders Program Goals

  1. Adopts the philosophy of educational and societal integration for people with emotional and behavioral disorders, according to the gools of sustainability development.
  2. Participates in the preparation of early intervention programs, diagnostic, counseling, and rehabilitation programs for people with emotional and behavioral disorders.
  3. collaborates with families, institutions and community center that provide services for people with emotional and behavioral disorders, according to the gools of sustainability development.
  4. Adhere to the ethical principles of the profession and the social standards appropriate for dealing with people with emotional and behavioral disorders.

Deaf and Hearing Impairment

The program includes visual and hearing disabilities

Study in the program (theoretical – practical – field), and the study is divided into two semesters (Two Semesters) of sixteen weeks each (fourteen for study and two weeks for exams), the first semester (fall semester) and the second semester (spring semester), where the study is on The basis of credit hours (course system) in which students are given the opportunity to choose the subjects they wish to study in each semester with the help of an academic advisor

The study includes university requirements (21 credit hours) in Arabic, English, computer applications, scientific thinking, and behavioral sciences, as well as.

Hearing and Visual Impairment Message

Preparing a qualified graduate with knowledge, skills and values ​​to educate and rehabilitate the hearing Impaired and visually impaired, counsel their families, be able to compete in the labor market locally and regionally, keep abreast of scientific and technological developments, and contribute to the development of scientific research in his field of specialization.

Hearing and Visual impairment Programs Goals

  1. Design teaching plans for learners with Hearing or visual Impairments.
  2. Choose educational environments that suit individual differences for learners with hearing or visually impaired.
  3. Apply teaching methods for people with hearing or visually impaired, employing learning technology, considering the characteristics of people with hearing or visually impaired and their teaching and learning patterns.
  4. Use appropriate methods and tools to evaluate the various aspects of the teaching and learning process for people with hearing or visually impaired.
  5. Deal professionally with the abilities of learners with hearing or visually impaired who can integrate educationally
  6. Develop himself professionally in a sustainable manner.
  7. Realize the unity of knowledge and the integrative relations between the fields of people with special needs in their various branches.
  8. Employ educational and psychological guidance and counseling mechanisms for learners with special needs and their families

Sign Language Team

It is a team consisting of students from all the departments of the College of Special Education.

The sign language team spreads awareness and ways to deal with the deaf and difficulty of hearing. It also participates in the activities that are held in the college and the university. Those who specialize in the college have the right to join the team

                   

Motor handicapped

This program deals with motor problems that affect the learning process through occupational therapy to improve academic deficiencies through Motor learning. The theoretical framework is integrated through teaching courses with the practical framework through field training in motor disability.

Motor Handicap Program Message

Preparing a graduate capable of educating , rehabilitating people with mobility disabilities, through the preparation , implementation of effective programs in improving the motor , academic level and evaluating them in line with the requirements of the labor market to achieve guidance for the family, society and effective partnership with various relevant institutions and bodies and in a way that contributes to the development of scientific research and sustainable development.

Motor Handicap Program Goals

1. Professionally deal with the abilities of learners with motor disabilities who are capable of educational integration, to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education.

2. Communicates effectively using his personal decisions and the skills of information and communication technology for people with motor disabilities, to reduce inequality among people.

3. Participates in developing the values of national belonging, democracy, tolerance, and acceptance of others, to reduce inequality among people.

4. Participates in solving professional and societal problems using modern scientific methods, to achieve inclusion in the cities and human settlements.

5. Participate in community service and educational development activities to achieve quality and distinction to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education.

6. Use appropriate methods and tools to evaluate the various aspects of the teaching and learning process for people with motor disabilities, to ensure healthy lives and promote well-being.

7. Employ mechanisms of educational and psychological guidance and guidance for learners with special needs and their families.

Gifted and learning disabilities

A graduate of the Department of Talent and Learning Difficulties receives a Bachelor of Special Education Sciences (BSc) specializing his or her Gifted or learning disabilities. With learning disabilities, they are a mysterious disability since the child appears to be normal and has signs that he or she is disabled because he or she is disabled in cognitive processes and the way the mind responds. The graduate must then be well trained in diagnostic and evaluation tools as well as have practical training hours that qualify him to deal with this group of persons with disabilities.

 Second category: The talented, an active minority that helps to promote societies and leapfrog them towards a better future. Science cannot forget Dr. Mustafa Musharraf, Dr. Samiah Musa, Dr. Ahmed Zewail and Adeeb Najib Mahfouz. This is the elite we are looking for. It comes only from a graduate who is scientifically and culturally distinguished and empowered to screen and select this class of society and to provide them with every means of support. Here comes the role of the Faculty of Education, represented in the Department of Talent and Learning Difficulties, to teach and train students in the latest standards, diagnostic tools, individual and archaeological programmers, and their practical application, so that the student can deal efficiently and effectively.

Gifted and learning disabilities Program Message

To prepare a graduate who is able to train and educate talented persons and learning difficulties in the light of ethical values and labor market requirements through the preparation and implementation of effective programs to improve the various aspects of development and to evaluate them in order to provide guidance to the family and society and to effectively partner with the various relevant bodies and institutions, thereby contributing to the development of the environment, the service and care of persons with special needs and the development of scientific research. The program includes specialists of talent, creativity and learning difficulties, which enable graduates to keep pace with the local and international labor market and also includes courses and programs that face the challenges of working with that group of society.

Learning disabilities

It is a double major deal with two parts.

First: learning disabilities.  The students study the learning disabilities within the frame of theories, diagnosing, the developmental learning disabilities the academic learning disabilities, the teaching strategies for the learning disabilities, and the field practice in learning disabilities

Second: Gifted and Talented students. The students study the psychology of talent and giftedness, Interactive models, diagnosing, the computes in teaching & strategies for gifted& talented. Also, the students take the field practice in gifted and talented.

Blind and Visual impairment

It is a double major that deals with two branches of study:

First: Blind and Visual impairment. The students study the visual Impairment within the field of the theories and practices, diagnosing visual impairment, techniques for direction movement and life skills, brail code, and the computers in teaching strategies for the visual impairment.

 

Second: Deaf and Hearing impairment within the fields of theories and practice. The students study the concepts, definitions, classifications, and causes of the Hearing Impairment; the early detection and intervention, problems and the educational care of children who suffer from the hearing Impairment; the diagnosis, the communication, teaching strategies, and the field practice in deaf and hearing impairment.

Educational and Psychological

The responsibilities of The Department of Educational and Psychological Sciences are preparation and evaluation of the Curricula of Educational Sciences (Elective Education courses, System of Teaching in Egypt, Management of Special Education Institutes and Laws for Children with special needs); Curriculum Management, Teaching Methods and Psychology (General Psychology, Developmental Psychology, Educational Psychology, Individual Differences, Psychometry, Psychology of Special Needs, Mental Health, Psychological Counselling, Social Psychology, Research Design, and Research Methods, Play Psychology, and Linguistic Psychology); in addition, Curricula for Music Skills, Fine Arts for Children with Special Needs, Care of Sick Children and Human Physiology for Children with Special Needs and their education.

This Department is managed by a group of well-educated and skillful staff who can teach these Curricula efficiently.

College Vision

The College of Special Education is a newly-established college that strives to prepare teachers to deal with students with special needs. The college also aims at being a leader in research related to students with disabilities. The college has a respective reputation at national, regional, and international levels.

College Mission

Our mission is to prepare teachers to educate students with special needs within the frame of national and international standards. Our aim is to provide applied scientific research to solve the educational problems of students with special needs.

 

Message from the Dean

Because of the importance of people with special needs and their role in developed societies, Egypt paid attention to this distinguished category in all its development plans, and it was necessary for educational institutions in Egypt to work on providing qualified teachers and graduates to facilitate communication and dealing with them as their inherent right and their integration into society to ensure the exihibting of their own abilities and creative energies. In this sense, the Faculty of Special Education at Misr University for Science and Technology (MUST) was established in 2014 to prepare teachers and graduates specialized in dealing with people with special needs, as the first faculty of its kind; not only in Egypt, but also in the Arab universities and the Middle East; to be a unique model for preparing teachers and specialists to work in the field of special education and student preparation. Their programs have been developed within the framework of the National Authority for Quality Assurance and Accreditation (NAQAAE) standards in the special education sector and the standards of the American Council for Exceptional Children (CEC). The mission of the College of Special Education is also to prepare special education specialists, and the college aspires to develop its performance by enhancing the scientific pursuit of educational knowledge and skills through teaching, scientific research, and community service.

  7. Work with national and international organizations in the field of special education in addition to the scientific experts in Egypt.

Academic Degrees

The College offers the Bachelor of Science ( B.Sc ) in Special Education (140 Credit hours) in one of the five majors:

Also, the college offers the professional Diploma in Special Education (45 credit hours) in the one of the four specializations :
